MISSION
As the Department of Foreign Language Education at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, our mission is to educate English language teachers who follow national and international developments, possess strong subject-matter knowledge and pedagogical competencies, adhere to ethical values, and demonstrate a strong sense of social responsibility. Our program is structured in line with the teacher education competencies determined by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and the teaching profession standards established by the Ministry of National Education. It is based on an educational approach that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical experience.
Our department aims to equip students with knowledge and skills in foreign language teaching methods, language acquisition, linguistics, educational technologies, assessment and evaluation, and intercultural communication. In addition, through courses such as English literature, we support our students in understanding the cultural and intellectual dimensions of language.
In line with our mission, we emphasize preparing prospective teachers who adopt student-centered teaching approaches, are sensitive to diverse learning needs, can effectively use technology, and possess a strong awareness of lifelong learning. Furthermore, considering the increasing importance of language education in an ever-changing and globalizing world, we support our students in becoming individuals who can communicate effectively in multicultural environments and adapt to global developments.

As the Department of Foreign Language Education, our vision is to become a leading department that provides a respected, innovative, and research-based educational environment in the field of teacher education at both national and international levels. With an approach that continuously evaluates and improves our education program, we aim to prepare our students as individuals who are strong both academically and professionally.
Our department aims to train prospective teachers who possess the knowledge and awareness necessary to adapt to the requirements of the modern age by closely following global educational trends and developments in educational technologies. Developing awareness of technology-supported teaching approaches and educating teachers who can effectively use these tools for pedagogical purposes are among our department’s priorities.
In line with our vision, our goal is to establish an academic community enriched by the contributions of faculty members with diverse academic expertise, one that promotes research and collaboration, remains open to global developments, and values social contribution. In this way, we aim to ensure that our graduates become not only effective English teachers but also innovative, critical-thinking individuals who contribute to the field of education and to society.
